I started thinking about this video yesterday.  One of my finest moments.

I go away for 2 days and you are “downsized” (euphemism for company basically closed) but get to go to a Sigur Ros concert and become an ultimate fighter. Life in the fast lane. Love you. Dad
Email from my dad.  He is right; a lot has happened this week.  Tomorrow I think Eric is coming down and we might go to Dave’s stand up show depending on how motivated we feel.

Concert

So, I think I have let enough time pass so that I can write about the Sigur Ros concert last night.  It was just incredible.  They have been pretty consistently my favorite band for over a year, so getting to see them in person was literally mind blowing.  Anyway, here is sort of a play by play of what happened:

Blake and I took the subway to the MoMA (where the concert was) and met up with two of his friends, Ben and Lauren, there.  Ben was the one that had the extra ticket for me.  We waited in a really long line for a while and then this lady that worked there started walking up and down saying, “have your ID’s out and ready.”  At that moment, I was like, “Crap, is this a 21+ show?”  And everyone was like ut ohhh and we asked the lady who said yes it was.  So I started to get really bummed, but Blake and his friends were like well let’s just try and see if we can get you in.  We stood in line for about another ten minutes before we got to the guy that checked ID’s.  So Blake gave his first then Lauren took mine and put it under hers and handed it to one of the guys checking.  He looked at hers for a little while, then he looked at mine.  I was ready to leave; I thought there was no chance I was getting in.  But, after staring at it for a while he says, “Ok, here are your wristbands.” !!!!! I was so happy.  Then we walked around the MoMA and looked at some exhibits.  They were really awesome.  After our little walk, we headed back downstairs to where the show was (at this point I ran into Jakob who was there because his brother was in Sigur Ros’ new music video).  The show started and everyone in the crowd was so into it.  They started with a few songs from Takk, then alternated between Takk and their new album.  At the end of the show a brass band came out to play Iceland’s national anthem because yesterday was their independence day.  They played an encore, then the show ended.   It was really amazing.  I can’t thank Blake and his friends enough and I can’t stop thinking about the show.

Blake took some video….I can’t wait for him to post it.
