“Where The Wild Things Are” almost became movie magic in 1983 when Disney owned the rights to the infamous children’s book. Animators John Lasseter and Glen Keane shot the above test film to try out a new style of animation. The idea was rejected for being too costly, and Lasseter soon after lost his job.
Don’t worry though! As is standard in Disney stories, there is a happy ending—Lasseter went on to head up Pixar, direct stuff like “Toy Story” and is currently back at Disney at the CCO.
